The cover doesn't have a hole to run the wiring out the top so I had to cut the holes myself. The only thing he couldn't do was plug in the halos, because umnitza didn't ship the harness, and install the covers that cover the bulb compartment. The BMW tech spent 3 1/2 hours on it to make it work. Here's the thing, when going from halogen to HID they're not as plug and play as you would think. Instead I took it to my local BMW dealer yesterday and they installed them for $225. Install was a challenge because the car is 14 years old and there were parts that didn't want to cooperate. Unfortunately, they shipped me 6000k bulbs and since it took about 3 weeks, I decided to keep them. I went along with SPDSKTR's suggestion and opted for 5000k bulbs since I wanted bright white. I ordered a new set of lights from umnitza and since i was going new, I decided to add HID and Orion V4 angle eyes to the package. Unfortunately the face lift models are sealed assemblies and can't replace the lens covers without baking them in your oven to soften the adhesive. If I had a pre face-lift I would've just gotten brighter bulbs and new lens covers. Problem was now my light assemblies looked like they were old and sandblasted. I had it Raail wrapped Heisnberg Blue, the wheels black and calipers red. I was looking to do the same a month ago. In your case, I'd suggest getting 4500K or 5000K HIDs for your low beams and some LED bulbs ( click here for something similar to what I put in my wife's car) for your high beams. When you turn on your high beams, that solenoid activates and the flap opens up, throwing crazy amounts of light out from the projector. A bi-xenon projector has a flap inside connected to a solenoid. What do you mean "demons"? Are you talking about the little red LEDs people put inside the projector to make it "look mean"?īi-xenon means the low beam and high beam are both in the projector. The LED bulbs I tossed in the high beams compensate for it, though. Sure, it's brighter than halogen, but it's not what I was wanting. ![]() I did so with my wife's 2013 GMC Terrain and I was a little disappointed in the output. For the time, effort, and money, it's perfectly fine to do it. Click to expand. You can retrofit HID bulbs into the halogen projectors, yes, but the output won't be as great as a proper HID projector retrofit.
